Another session with the central star mask. |

10 minutes MOT with maximum overhang to flatten the center. By far too long. Two or three minutes would have been enough. A deep central hole appeared. Great golf court. To remove the hole I created a star mask that was pressed into the pitch lap. Then 45 minutes of 1/4 strokes TOT. Works fine, though it will probably take another hour of polishing to remove it. |

Another two sessions of 15 minute of short strokes (1-2 cm). At last TDE has almost disappeared. Edge still seems to be very slightly turned, but at the moment I will concentrate on the center and the zones. |

Another 10 minutes of very short strokes (1-2 cm). No real changes, maybe TDE is very very slightly reduced. |

Expanded the pitch lap to nearly full size. Continued for 15 minutes doing very short strokes (about 1 cm). TDE further reduced, a hill on top of the central hill appears. Some defects in the center are very apparent now. I hope they will disappear when I return to longer strokes. |

90 minutes of polishing with W-strokes MOT with medium overhang. From time to time some straight strokes with great overhang. Less effective than I thought. Even the small zone inside the edge is still there. The shape didn't change a lot - if at all, it got a little plainer. |

Once again used my thumb to polish the 95% zone. Did not work. Maybe too little pressure or the session was too short. Only a very small deep zone can be seen. I will try to smoothen that zone by short w-strokes MOT. Turbulences are annoying. Maybe I should set up the tester on a table. |

Polished the 90% zone for about 10 minutes with the thumb. I also did some random strokes in the center. I cannot recognize a real deep zone, but I think I hit the zone inside the TDE. The edge looks maybe a little better than before, but is still clearly visible. The surface got more irregular. The dark edge at the left is caused by a poorly aligned Foucault tester. Less turbulences in this image. |

Longer strokes MOT with much overhang to lower the center. Some central strokes. The center seems to be easy to control. The TDE is much more resistant. I'll try Stathis Kafalis' method and create a deep zone inside the TDE by polishing with my thumb. |

Continued with short strokes TOT. TDE reduced in width, but also deeper than before. Central hill grows ... The surface looks rough due to air turbulences. The images were taken near the floor. |

Short strokes with little or no overhang. Central hill raises, the TDE seems to be slightly reduced. |

First digital Foucault image. Camera is a Olympus C5060-WZ. About one hour of short strokes with little overhang TOT, followed by a short session of longer strokes with more overhang to reduce the central hill. The circular artefacts around the center aren't scratches, but reflections from structures inside the glass. The surface is almost free from scratches and completely polished. And also not very well cleaned ... |
